Lewis Capaldi steals the show at the Brit Awards 2020!

Scottish singer-songwriter, Lewis Capaldi bagged two awards last night at this year’s Brit Awards. After the year the artist has had, it didn’t come at a surprise. Capaldi was nominated for Best British Album, Best New Artist, Best British Single and Best British Male Solo Artist.

Lewis Capaldi came home with The Best New Artist Award and Best New Single for his popular song, ‘Someone you loved’. Winning two awards against artists such as Dave, Harry Styles, Stormzy, AJ Tracy and many more outstanding musicians Is not only a big moment for him, but the Scottish Music Scene also.

His humor is something that is recognised on social media daily and it was no different last night. From thanking his grandmother for dying during his speech to brining a bottle of Buckfast on stage when receiving his awards. It was definitely a night to remember for the West-Lothian singer.

“A lot of people think this song is about my ex-girlfriend, who you can now see every night on Love Island.
“The song is actually about my Grandmother who sadly passed away a few years ago. I hope to God ITV don’t contact her to take part in a reality TV dating show.”

Lewis Capaldi has had an unbelievable couple of years. With releasing his debut album, ‘Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent’ to touring the world and selling out show after show. The most popular song on the album is one you hear everywhere. ‘Someone you loved’ was released as a single in 2018 before being added to his album. The tune recently hit 1 billion streams on Spotify so it came as no surprise that it won the best single of the year.

A massive night for Lewis Capaldi and also a massive night for Scotland as a country. The recognition Scotland’s music scene deserves is still far away. However, people like Lewis Capaldi are bringing it back into the light with winning awards like these.
