Scottish Rockers, Shambolics have been making some noise around the music industry by announcing that their song, ‘Chasing a disaster’ will be released on all streaming platforms on the 1st of November.
Guitarist, Jordan Mchatton and the band have clear ambitions for this year, and they set to take the world by storm. However, it didn’t just happen overnight.
He said: “I started playing at about 15. I got mad into The Beatles and knew a had to learn the guitar. Me and Lewis (Band member) were in the same year at school and he’d been playing for a few years already, so we used to ditch class and just jammed all day. Forbes (Band member) didn’t start till 18 but spent hours and hours grafting away to make up time. Jake (Band member) has been a beat master since he left the womb.”
Jordan also went into detail about his idols growing up and the people who really have influenced not only him personally but as a band.
He said: “Personally I’d have to say iconic bands and artists such as The Beatles, The Clash, Chic, Duran Duran. As a band, the good thing is, we’ve all got different tastes that merge together. Forbes is a 60’s hippy, Jake loves his Led Zeppelin and Lewis is 90’s bucket hat daft.”
Shambolics have announced their new UK tour that is fast approaching. The group take on three English dates such as Manchester, London and Liverpool. However, along with this they also have two Scottish dates that are both sold-out. The band play Edinburgh and Glasgow that won’t be a night you forget in a hurry.
Jordan explained that it’s been a long-waited return to start touring again. He said: “It’s been far too long! Nah but the benefits are now starting to show.
“We started a while ago, but it has taken us till this year to actually get it right, from frustrating line-up changes to bankrupting ourselves, we’ve knuckled down every time and we’re constantly getting at it. That is what I think sets us apart from others who would have chucked it a long time ago.”
The Fife band also signed a record deal earlier this year with Creation 23. This really showed how much support they had with the owner of the Record deal being Alan McGee, who signed Oasis to their first ever Record company.
Jordan said: “McGee’s a legend. Honestly, we all said if we could sign with one person that’s who it would be. It’s always a bonus when it turns out he’s sound as f*** as well.
“It’s also refreshing to see him come out and say forget oasis, Shambolics are the future and that’s what we wanted instead of being pigeonholed into a 90’s nostalgia scene.”
The Scottish Music Scene is now finally getting some of the recognition it’s deserved and Shambolics are one of many to be setting the tone and starting to make people unable to overlook the talent the country is producing.
He said: “It’s an honour to be part of that scene that have some banging musicians. From Gerry Cinnamon to The Snuts, Scotland are finally getting put back on the map."
Jordan Mchatton and the Shams have got some outstanding plans for the rest of the year and the already loyal fanbase are buzzing to see them take off. Tickets are still available for their UK tour via https://www.skiddle.com/artists/shambolics-123564641/.
