Rising Scottish band, Pleasure heads have cemented themselves into the heart of Glasgow’s music scene despite coming from Falkirk. Their punk-rock style is one that is welcomed with open arms to most, but especially in Glasgow. Bands such as The Dunts, Gallus and Pleasure Heads are all headlining sold-out gigs across the country.
They said: “Falkirk was a decent place to grow up in. It's a fairly big town with all the amenities and woodlands a young person could need. The only thing it really lacks is a music scene which is why we quickly set our sights on Edinburgh and Glasgow.”
Pleasure Heads had quite a similar music influence to many of this generation. Arctic Monkeys to The Clash. That kind of music was the bands early influences. However, it wasn’t until 2014 when they started to write music.
The band said: “After a boozy night in the woods, Ross and I decided to start writing songs together. We took a few months to get a set-list, but once we had, we began playing in pubs and venues across the Central Belt…
“After some disagreement with the original line-up, Alan joined us at the start of 2019. The three of us have been annoying the f**k out of each other ever since.”
The group released their first single, ‘Concrete lips’ in 2017. A hard hitting tune which also feature in NME’s top 100 playlist in 2019.
The band commented: “It's nice to get recognition from further afield, but it would have been nicer to get it before NME went down the shitter.”
Pleasure heads have been causing maythem amongst the Scottish music scene. One of their biggest moments was headlining a double header at SWG3 alongside Spyres, The Stoned Immaculate, The Roly Mo and Moonrunners.
They said: “SWG3 was a special couple of nights; we handpicked the bands on the bill and it really concluded last year in memorable fashion.”
Pleasure Heads released, ‘Sick of the sights’ as their latest single. One that has done particular well and recorded with popular record label, ‘7 West Music’. The band explained the tune had been written for some time.
They stated: “It's been a long time coming; we wrote the song around five years ago and we’re glad it's found its way back into the set. I recently bumped into the girl that the song is about and I can truthfully say I’m still sick of her.”
Pleasure Heads are building a great reputation around not only Glasgow, but Scotland. Before the worlds madness, they had two sold-out shows in Edinburgh and Aberdeen. You can listen to the bands latest single via the link below.
