REVIEW: Something’s Gotta Give by Jamie Webster

Most known for his catchy Liverpool footie tunes, Jamie Webster is quickly escaping that title of a football songwriter and following in the footsteps of the many Liverpool musical legends. Releasing, Somethings Gotta Give which will feature on the artist’s debut album, We Get By which comes out in August, the tune will hit home with many.

The brutally honest lyrics along with only four chords provides a humble listen but one that shows some hard-hitting truths around the UK and the worlds corrupt system. The song has a light and simple aspect to it, however, the lyrics are strong and give a fair reflection of the working class views.

“Lining of pockets and no care of how we live, things can’t stay the same, somethings gotta give.”

Jamie Webster is notorious for his Liverpool gigs where the atmosphere is electric. Building an unbelievable following through the Liverpool faithful, it is no surprise they’ve continued to follow the singer-songwriter on his new journey of releasing his own material. Having already released Weekend In Paradise, Living for Yesterday, Grinding The Gears and now Something’s Gotta Give, the debut album of Jamie Webster is looking very promising.

Along with the new album comes a UK tour. Jamie Webster grabs his acoustic guitar in September and takes on places such as Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow, London, Dublin, Belfast and of course his hometown, Liverpool. He has of course already sold-out Liverpool’s 02 Academy and is heading towards a sell-out in Glasgow’s famous King Tuts. This is a tour you definitely don’t want to miss.

The music industry continues to take twists and turns and provides huge obstacles to make a career out of doing what you love. As many bands and artists are accused ‘sell-outs’, Jamie Webster is one of not many to stay true to the music and represent the working class and the things he feels most passionate about. He is definitely someone who is not only earning his support, but thoroughly deserves it.
