The boys from West-Lothian are back and what a way to return with a new single. Mark Sharp & The Bicycle Thieves have released a new single, ‘Moonshine’ and it is one that will have you jumping.
The growing band release the tune on the back of just selling out their biggest headline gig to date at St Luke’s. The tune takes a change in direction from the bands usual sound. However, a direction that will be gladly accepted by the music lovers of Scotland.
The song has a real funky, dance vibe that works well with lead singer, Mark Sharps voice. However, that doesn’t take anything away from the stunning guitar work in the song that provides a great Melody throughout the song.
The chorus to this one is something that will have your foot tapping and your head nodding all night long. As the song builds up and up with the catchy backing track, it sets up the chorus nicely as the song takes a complete change in tempo.
With the introduction of ‘Moonshine’ to the growing track list from Mark Sharp & The Bicycle Thieves, it seems the band are really starting to create noise around the music scene. Songs like ‘Moonshine’ along with ‘Tippy Toes’, ‘Firewater’ and ‘Fools’ all specify in something different. Some are more up-beat and will see the crowd go crazy. Some will provide a class and calmed down listen. The set-list is looking to be a brilliant one for their upcoming gigs.
Lead Singer, Mark Sharp described the much paid off risk the band took for the single.
He said: “It’s definitely been the song we’ve spent the most time on both in and out the studio. That was mainly down to the producer (Paul McInally) as he would nudge us out our comfort zone a bit and take some risks. We’re forever grateful that he did because we’re all delighted with the way it’s turned out and how it’s being received. We’ve always said we like to mix it up with every release and keep things interesting and ‘Moonshine’ certainly supports that.”
Mark Sharp & The Bicycle Thieves are becoming one of Scotland’s best talents and with releasing ‘Moonshine’, long may It continue. The band are doing superb in Scotland’s magnificent music scene and they are certainly living up to West-Lothian’s reputation.
