Another West-Lothian band keeping up that excellent reputation after releasing their second single, ‘Taped up’. Dictator are definitely finding their groove with this single and their previous one, ‘Anthem for a doomed youth’.
The song has a strong and confident sound which the band has no issue showing. Its superb harmony compliments the lead singers voice to a tee. ‘Taped up’ goes along so well with their last single, so similar yet so different which is very hard to do with your music. The band have made the song have a clear meaning which again gives them a cutting edge.
“It’s a thin f*****g line between self improvement and selfishness. Taped up is all about trying to find that balance of working on yourself and looking after the people you care about.”
Dictator are definitely not going unnoticed in Scotland’s growing music scene. With a big headlining gig coming up on the 28th this month at Sneaky Pete’s, they promise a great night ahead. Dictator are also heading down south in order to support fellow West-Lothian band, Mark Sharp and the bicycle thieves and also support Sour Honey in Manchester in March. Big shows for a big up and coming band.
Dictator are following in the foot steps of young Scottish bands from their area such as The Snuts, Mark Sharp and many more. After releasing another unbelievable song with it only being their second to date, it shows the quality and potential of yet again another West-Lothian band.
What sets this group of four from some other bands is their no filter attitude. Talking about their headline show In the capital, the band said:
“In terms of the gig, when you do s**t like this you always wonder how people will react, so we’re buzzing to see how everyone engages with it live. Come see us next Friday the 28th at Sneaky Pete’s, even if you don’t like the song, just come along and tell us!”
Catch them at their headline show next week before it sells out. Another Scottish band on the up that music lovers definitely welcome with open arms.
Listen fast, before you’re last.
