REVIEW: Rhubarb’s House by Pelican Tusk

Glasgow based band, Pelican Tusk have provided you with the ultimate isolation tunes with their new EP, ‘Rhubarbs house’. The cool, calm and collected EP is definitely one to get behind.

The EP is made up of four songs including already released, ‘Freaked out(Inside the machine). The new tunes are named, ‘Rhubarbs house’, ‘Hide under the rug’ and ‘Make Up’. All songs are quite similar in their calming and chilled sound along with some outstanding vocals from the band. This set of songs will definitely make you forget about all the madness going on for the next 18 minutes.

‘Rhubarb’s house’ is not only a great listen, but is one you can listen to track after track. With all songs having that similar sound, yet such a different track, it is something not many bands can do. ‘Make Up’ is really where you discover the groups direction and sound, a quite stunning tune which you can already tell will be unbelievable live.

Pelican Tusk also admitted that the EP was definitely not rushed and took about two-years to get together, which you can definitely tell that with the EP delivering such a quality listen.

They said: “The subject of EP, I’d say is written as someone reflecting on ups and downs of the past whilst sort of still being in the house reflecting on it.

“Sonically/musically, 90% of it was done in my flat so there was no time pressure to get anything finished, which I think contributed to the structure of the song. It was a lot of fun messing about and trying different stuff.”
