REVIEW: Glasvegas at Paisley Spree Festival

Updated: Oct 19, 2019

Glasvegas played in-front of the joyful town of Paisley at the ever-growing Spree festival, and what a show it was. The Scottish band really showed the crowd how to have a sing song. This was one you didn’t want to miss.

The band were met with cheers and chants as they took the stage with their bottles of tonic. They kicked the show of with their usual set-list starter, ‘Flowers and football tops’. This tune let the crowd know what they should expect for the rest of the night.

Glasvegas played most of the songs from their debut album, ‘Glasvegas’ which included top hits such as ‘Daddy’s Gone’, ‘Geraldine’ and ‘It’s my own cheating heart that makes me cry’. The set-list was great for this occasion as they had a mix of not only their first album but also a few songs from their other two. The main songs being ‘Lost sometimes’ which the Paisley crowd were delighted with.

The Glasgow based band also played a cover of The Ronettes song, ‘Be my baby’ which was wonderful to see the crowd singing along to. A tune made for the Paisley Spree Festival.

Along with the groups usual Indie Rock style the band also included a few acoustic numbers on the set-list. The main one that had the crowd in full voice was an old one called ‘Whitey’ which has been great to see make a return to their shows. They also played ‘Keep me a space’ which doesn’t

appear on any of their albums.

The band ended the night on another good note. With two songs left to play they chose very well in sending the fans home with a smile on their face. Although it’s only October, Glasvegas played a song called, ‘Please come back home’ that appears on their Christmas EP, ‘A snowflake fell (and it felt like a kiss)’.

However, their very last song was the one everyone had been waiting for. The band played one of their most popular tunes, ‘Daddy’s Gone’ which can only be described as a special end to the night.

Glasvegas smashed The Spree Festival and I’m sure they will be welcomed back with open arms anytime.
