REVIEW: The Snuts EP launch at King Tuts

On the opening day of their second EP, ‘Mixtapes’, The Snuts smashed their EP launch at the famous King Tuts. From start to finish, the crowd were jumping around to old and new songs.

However, they didn’t face the King Tuts audience alone. 13-year-old singer, Connor Fyfe supported the West-Lothian Indie-Rockers for the second time and he did more than enough to warm the stage up for them. On the back of releasing his new album, ‘Don’t’, Connor made sure he mixed his tunes with some great covers. ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’ by Oasis and ‘Waterfall’ by The Stone Roses were the ones that really had the crowd going.

As The Snuts entered the stage with their trademark bottles of Tonic wine, it was met with an outstanding cheer from the small but sold-out crowd. This added to the atmosphere due to it only being around a 300 capacity venue. They kicked off the set-list with a slight tease for the audience. The usual starter is the bands popular tune, ‘The Madator’, which they started playing, however it quickly faded into, ‘All Your Friends’ which seen the crowd go even more mental.

Due to it being their EP Launch, it was only appropriate to include all their tunes from it. So the set-list automatically included ‘All your friends’, ‘Fatboy Slim’, ‘Coffee & Cigarettes’, ‘Boardwalk’ and ‘Don’t Forget it’. ‘Don’t forget it’ was one that had the crowd jumping and their hands clapping. However, it’s important to let the crowd get a breather, especially with The Snuts hard hitting songs. Boardwalk is exactly that, a slow and sad tune which lets you calm down but also listen to a superb piece of writing.

The band didn’t forget to play the classics. The tunes that have built a spine for that unique Snuts sound. ‘Glasgow’, ‘What’s going on’ and ‘Sumertime’ were all on that growing set-list, which was much to the fans delight.

Not only did the tunes impress, but the whole Snuts stage presence was brilliant. From Jordan(Drums), Calum(Bass)and Joe(guitarist) to Lead singer, Jack - all were showing their talents on stage. The King Tuts is made for bands like The Snuts and they definitely won’t be playing in a venue like that again.

An iconic gig, for a soon to be iconic band.
