Scottish artists smashed The Shed on Friday in Glasgow’s southside for Scotland’s very own Indian Summer Festival. The line-up included Certificates, The Nickajack Men, Shambolics, Tempesst, Vida, Mark Sharp & The Bicycle Thieves and former The View lead singer, Kyle Falconer.
Certificates kicked the festival off at around 5:30 and showed the fans who they were. They set the tone for the festival playing their most popular track, ‘Heart Attack’ which was a real crowd pleaser.
Next up was The Nickajack Men who again, didn’t disappoint. Playing their popular songs such as, ‘Gordo’ and many more. The Nickajack boys were a little bit more chilled out compared to Certificates which provided a good mix for the supporters to calm down. However, they didn’t catch their breath as they sang their hearts out.
The Shambolics then took the stage where they blew the roof off. The band recently signed a new record deal with Alan McGee who is most known for signing worldwide band Oasis. The Shambolics again showed Scotland’s music scene is on the way up. The crowd went wild as they played ‘chasing a disaster’.
Tempesst also provided the festival with another stand out performance. Playing fan favourites such as, ‘Tidal Wave’ and their latest release, ‘Is this all that there is?’

Highly rated Vida were up next. The fans waited patiently for the band to set up, chants of “no Vida, no party” rang out throughout the crowd. As soon as Vida started, the whole tempo changed. A real buzz was in the air as Vida started to play, ‘Let You Believe’. The Boys from Alloa more than warmed up the main stage for the headliner.
Mark Sharp and the Bicycle Thieves also dropped by for a singsong just a few days after announcing their biggest headline show at St Luke’s. The band gained a great crowd who were eager to hear their latest release, ‘Tippy Toes’. The band and the crowd created a magnificent atmosphere just in time for the final act of the night.
It came down to the moment everyone had been waiting for. Ex-The View frontman, Kyle Falconer took the stage which was met by cheers from the audience. He started off his set-list with ‘Grace’ which appears on The View’s album, ‘Bread And Circuses’. The buzz around the place was unreal as the crowd knew every word to every song and made sure the artist knew they did. The set was a great mix of The View’s songs and his debut solo album, ‘No thank you’. The highlight of the night was Kyle Falconer’s last song as he played another View cover. This time it was, ‘Double Yellow Lines’ which was a really great way to end the night. Instead of the usual high paced normal version he chose to slow it down which meant the crowd could singalong with him.
The Indian Summer Festival really did again show off the Scottish music scene and how far it has come and how far it’s growing. Next year is a must if you want to support our up and coming bands.
