Ever-growing West-Lothian band, The Snuts smashed their biggest headline show to date at Motherwell’s very own concert hall. The show marked the first Scottish date of their UK tour and they did not disappoint.
As the group took the stage, it was met with yells and chants of, “The Snuts are on fire”. However, where the crowd really went wild was when lead singer, Jack Cochrane said the opening line that everyone was waiting for, “Happening, we're The f*****g Snuts”.
The band opened with their tune, ‘All your friends’ which was released in late May. This really got the crowd jumping. The long vintage rock ‘n’ roll back beat seen the crowd sing along loudly, which was nothing sort of magnificent. It also showed how far the band had came. From playing in front of 50 people, to now playing in front of 1600.
As they listened to the crowd sing back to them, it really kicked in when it got to the chorus. As it hit, ‘do you remember when we, do you remember when we..” all you could see was bodies and limbs flying. A brilliant set-list opener which set the tone for the rest of the night.
Along with their popular songs which were on the set-list, it also had a few new songs that haven’t been released yet. This contained songs called ‘Fatboy Slim’, ‘Boardwalk’ and ‘Don’t forget it’.
Boardwalk was different from the usual Snuts theme. It took on a more slow and sad vibe which the band informed the audience before hand. The crowd didn’t stop though, they clapped along and showed their appreciation for the band.
It was then met with the introduction of another new tune, ‘Fatboy Slim’. This cranked up the pace again and seen the crowd bouncing once more.
The last new one the group played was, ‘Don’t forget it’, which took a totally different direction from the other two. This one was a real punky song that was received well by the crowd. Another new tune that must be closing into releasing a debut album.
The West-Lothian boys also showed the loyal fans a cover of famous Robbie Williams song, ‘Angels’. Lead singer, Jack Cochrane played this one alone on stage and had the crowd singing along beautifully.
After the outstanding cover, he then went onto play an acoustic version of their own song, ‘Mixer’. This gave the crowd a chance to calm down but continue to sing their hearts out.
The Set-List was the biggest the band had ever done and it included some real fan favourites too. Tunes such as ‘Glasgow’, ‘Matador’, ‘What’s going on’ and more. These songs helped the band get to where they are today, and by playing them on one of the biggest nights of their life’s, it went down a real treat with the crowd.
However, the most special part of the night was the last song. The Snuts closed the show with one of their first ever songs, ‘sing for your supper’. As the band stood and watched more than 1000 people on each others shoulders singing it word for word was an experience no-one in attendance will forget for a long time. A beautiful way to finish an amazing night for Scotland’s very own band - The Snuts.
