Heard of Declan Welsh & The Decadent West? Well you will soon. They are a Glasgow based band who have been hitting the music scene hard recently. After selling out St Luke’s at the end of last year, the band now have a headline show at SWG3 that is getting closer to sell out each day. Better get their fast before you miss out.
Declan Welsh has supported many massive names as a solo artist, such as Glasvegas, Ocean Colour Scene, The Proclaimers and many more. However, it didn’t really kick off until years after when he discovered a band was needed. It really kicked off after the group released a tune called, ‘Shiny Toys’. The hard hitting and unique sounding tune led too many unbelievable opportunities including supporting Rock ‘n’ Roll legend, Billy Bragg at Glastonbury.
Now signed with Record label, 7WestMusic which includes a roster of Scottish rockers such as, Gerry Cinnamon, Baby Strange, The Dunts and are rapidly picking up the most promising young Scottish artists out there.
The band recorded a full album under 7WestMusic which went down a treat with music lovers from all over Britain, especially in Scotland. ‘Cheaply bought, expensively sold’ was released last October. The album also reached number 10 in the charts at one point, again showing how well the album was received by the public. 12 tunes plus a hidden track which was then released a few weeks later. The group smartly sneaked a track at the end of their last song, ‘Times’. This hidden track was, ‘As I Am’ which is one you will definitely want to listen to if you haven’t already.
Declan Welsh & The Decedent West headed out on their first UK tour which played some iconic venues including Glasgow’s very own, St Luke’s. That gig would trigger the band to return to Glasgow again in May. The band announced they will be playing SWG3 in May which will be by far their biggest crowd yet. Tickets are going fast, so you better be quick.
Declan Welsh & The Decedent West are without doubt one of Scotland’s most promising young bands. They won’t be kicking about in these venues for much longer. Try to avoid disappointment by attending their biggest headline gig to date at SWG3.
